In I Tim. 2:1-2, Paul writes, “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”  God wants people to pray for those in authority.  We believe that this includes those who influence society through their roles in government, education, business, and media or through their intellectual, artistic, athletic or humanitarian contributions.
